Privacy Policy
QuickQR — Fast, Private QR Code Scanner
Effective Date: May 1, 2026
TL;DR — QuickQR does not collect, store, or transmit any personal data. Everything stays on your device.
Introduction
MEDEV Studios ("we", "us", or "our") operates the QuickQR mobile application (the "App"). This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information when you use our App.
We are committed to protecting your privacy. QuickQR is designed with a privacy-first architecture — the App functions entirely on your device with no server-side component.
Information We Do NOT Collect
QuickQR does not collect, process, or transmit any of the following:
- Personal identification information (name, email, phone number)
- Location data or GPS coordinates
- Device identifiers, advertising IDs, or fingerprints
- Camera images, video recordings, or scanned QR code contents
- Usage analytics, crash reports, or behavioral data
- Cookies, tracking pixels, or any third-party tracking mechanisms
Camera Access
QuickQR requires access to your device's camera solely for the purpose of scanning QR codes in real-time. The camera feed is processed entirely on your device and is never recorded, stored, or transmitted to any external server.
Camera permission can be revoked at any time through your device's Settings app.
Local Data Storage
The App stores the following data locally on your device only, using Room Database and Jetpack Preferences DataStore:
- Scan History — A list of previously scanned QR codes (text content, type, and timestamp)
- App Settings — Your preferences such as language, haptic feedback, and continuous scanning mode
This data never leaves your device. It is not synced to any cloud service, and it is not accessible to MEDEV Studios or any third party. You can delete all stored data at any time using the "Clear History" function within the App.
Third-Party Services
QuickQR does not integrate any third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking services. There are no SDKs from Google Analytics, Firebase, Facebook, or any other data collection platform.
When you use the "Open" action on a scanned URL, the link is opened using your device's default browser or the in-app browser. The destination website's privacy policy applies to your visit.
Internet Access
QuickQR does not declare or request the INTERNET permission in its manifest. The App operates completely offline, ensuring that no data is ever transmitted, uploaded, or synced from your device.
Children's Privacy
QuickQR does not knowingly collect any personal information from anyone, including children under the age of 13. Since the App does not collect data of any kind, it is compliant with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and similar regulations.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected on this page with an updated "Effective Date." We encourage you to review this page periodically.
